Chess Rules

Chess rules are at first glance very complex.  There are a few general points that will help you understand the game.  The goal of chess is to win by trapping your opponent's king. This is what is known as "checkmate" which has become a common term in many languages.  Chess rules state that white is always first to move and the game continues on a turn-based system.  While progressing toward the ultimate goal of checkmate, a player may 'capture' his opponents pieces by moving one of his pieces onto it.  Please follow the links below for in-depth review of the chess rules for each piece.
